November 20

One of my favourite things to do is Skyping. I have been able to Skype with Mrs Yollis’ class at school click here to see a post on my class blog about the Skyping session. I have also Skyped with Royce from Mrs Yollis’ class at home click here to view my post about my game playing with Royce.

On Saturday the 19th of November at 8am Saturday in Leopold, Australia and 3pm Friday in Mobile, U.S.A. I Skyped with Greta from the University of South Alabama. Greta is studying to be a teacher in Health Education and is taking a technology class with Professor John Strange.

The Skyping session started with Greta asking me questions and then I had a chance to ask her some questions too. After speaking to Greta I had a conversation with Professor Strange. We spoke for about 20 minutes.

Thanks to Greta watch the videos below of my chat with her.

Here is a copy of our conversation.

How many times have you Skyped?

Where about in the world would you like to Skype with someone?

Have you ever meet a friend in person who you meet through Skyping or blogging?

    Dear Jarrod,

Well done on skyping Greta and Professor Strange!

I noticed that Greta had an interesting accent. It is much different to Mrs Yollis’ accent. Did you have any trouble understanding her?

I also noticed you said that typing isn’t your favourite activity. In a couple of weeks I am going to test all the students in 2KM on their typing again. I bet you have improved a lot because you have been typing comments and posts.

Maybe you’ll play a few typing games to get in some extra practice before your test!

What do you think about that?

    Best wishes,
    Mrs M☀rris

    Dear Jarrod,
That’s so cool that you were skyping with a student teacher (that’s a person studying to be a teacher) about blogging. I have been reading your blog since July and I can see how much your blogging has improved during the last few months. What part of blogging do you like the best? What have been some tricky things about blogging?

    Your friend

We Skpye using my laptop which has a built in camera and my mum download Skype from the internet. I then organise a time via email.

That would be really cool to Skpye with you if you could. Maybe you should ask your teacher about Skyping.

      Your pal,

      1. erbagley

Ok, I will ask her. But you might get to skpe with the whole 5th grade. Mabye I can ask her if you and me can skpe. I hope when I get that nook tablet for christmas, I can skpe with you any time! too bad we have diffrent time.

    Hello Jarrod,

You never cease to amaze me with how much you are getting out of being in such an active blogging class. This is a fascinating Skyping adventure with Greta.

Keep up the great effort, Jarrod. You are inspiring many students to try new things on line. 🙂
