    Hi Jarrod,
I remember your guest post from your class’s blog. I’m a student teacher from New Zealand. That means right now I’m studying to be a teacher but next year I’ll be a real teacher!

What sort of dog is Yogi? Is he a big dog or a little dog?

Thanks for leaving the very first comment on my blog. 😉

Yogi is a black and now grey Labrador, he’s getting a bit old now. I think he’s a medium size dog.

I did not get my first computer till I was about 33 it was much larger and wasn’t wireless the printer was big too and printed with spread sheet paper. We were not connected to the net either really just used it to type assignments on..

Most people think that Thomas Edison invented the light bulb he improved it but it was first invented in the 1800 by Humphry Day and other inventors also worked on the light bulb before Thomas Edison.

We used to go collecting Blackberries that my mum would bake into a pie and make jam. I loved picking mushrooms too.

I also enjoy reading and traveling. My favorite types of books are historical fiction. That is when you have a fake story that takes place during a real time in history. What is your favorite genre?

You mentioned that you have a dog named Yogi. I really love dogs and hope you do a post about your pet. Mr. Yollis and I are going to get a dog in a month or two. Do you have any advice for us about breeds or taking care of a dog?

I look forward to reading your future posts!

We are not looking for a small dog. We prefer a medium or even large dog. We have coyotes in our backyard occasionally…so a bigger dog is preferable.

I’m curious, what do you like about poodles?

            @ Jarr☀d,

Yes, coyotes are similar to dingos. They both are from the dog family and both are wild. The coyotes near our house are not a danger to us, but they have been known to round up small family pets. 🙁

I have heard that poodles are very smart and they do not shed. Shedding can be a real problem sometimes. They also come in three sizes!

We are definitely looking at retrievers. They are suppose to be very friendly and loyal.

Do you have any good names in mind?

Congratulations on starting your own blog! I can tell this will be a fun blog to follow because you already have so many comments. Comments are what make a blog like a conversation, and that makes everyone feels like they are part of the blog.

I am a third grade (ages 8-9) teacher in Connecticut, USA. I live about half-way between the cities of New York and Boston. My town is right on the coast so I love going to the beach and swimming in the surf.

Right now it is summer here so I am on holidays. When school is in session my class loves to blog with 2KM/2KJ, Mrs. Yollis’ class, B4, and all of our other blogging buddies.

Yes, I can surf. In fact, that’s what I love doing when I go to the beach! We don’t always get big waves though, so I spend a lot of time “body-surfing” which is fun to do when the waves are medium sized.

Are there beaches with good waves near Leopold?

There are lots of good beaches at Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Torquay and many more. At the beach I like to body surf and jump waves, we normally get big waves when I go body surfing. I’m hoping to join “Nippers” this summer, which is kids learning about the beach and surfing (it’s a kids life saving program).

Congratulations on earning your own blog! That is so terrific and I see you are getting lots of comments too!

My name is Mrs. Hembree and I am a school librarian at a school near Seattle, Washington. I have the Bulldog Readers blog. Your teachers have a link to my blog on their blogroll.

I see that you have a dog named Yogi. How did you decide on that name? Did you name your dog? I have 3 dogs – Little Bit, Kasa and Reese. Reese is a Bernese Mountain Dog and the other 2 are Pomeranians. Little bit is 13 years old and is a very old, little lady! She does a lot of sleeping on the couch!

Do you like to read? I do! That’s why I love being a librarian! What do you like to read? A lot of the boys at my school love reading funny books or adventure books. In fact the most popular series at my school is Babymouse by Matt and Jenni Holm. You can read about it on my blog. I highly recommend these books if you like to laugh!

    Have a wonderful school vacation!
